Academic Courses
There are five courses currently running at NIMH. These are –
1. MD (Psychiatry)
Seat available: Six (6) seats of which three (3) are for government candidates and three (3) for non-government candidates.
Session starts: March each year
Admission test: Conducted by BSMMU
Admission test date: November each year
Eligibility criteria to appear in admission test: One year after completion of internship. Deputation rules applicable for government doctors.
2. FCPS (Psychiatry)
Seat available: Candidates must achieve 70% mark to pass the part one.
Session starts: January and July each year
Admission test: Conducted by BCPS
Admission test date: January and July each year
Eligibility criteria to appear in admission test: Passing MBBS and having full registration with BMDC. Deputation rules applicable for government doctors.
3. MD (Child, Adolescent & Family Psychiatry)
Seat Available: Four (4) seats of which two (2) are for government candidates and two (2) for non-government candidates
Session starts: March each year
Admission test: Conducted by BSMMU
Admission test Date: November each year
Eligibility criteria to appear in admission test: One year after completion of internship. Deputation rules applicable for government doctors.
4. FCPS (Child & Adolescent Psychiatry)
Seat available: Candidates must achieve 70% mark to pass the part one.

Eligibility criteria to appear in admission test: Passing MBBS and having full registration with BMDC. Deputation rules applicable for government doctors.
5. MCPS (Psychiatry)
Examination date: January and July each year
Authority: Conducted by BCPS
Eligibility criteria to appear in the exam: To appear in the membership exam candidates have to complete at least four (4) years after completing MBBS. Two-year training in Psychiatry in an Institute/Hospital recognized by BCPS is also required.
